PMA Preferred Provider Network Expands
Expansion Expected to Open Door to Greater Medical Cost Savings for Clients

Medical costs remain a No. 1 factor when it comes to assessing the total cost of a workers' compensation insurance program. And with medical costs rising annually, it's up to workers' compensation insurance providers to find ways to reduce and control these costs for their clients wherever possible. At least that's PMA's position.

That's why we're pleased to announce a significant enhancement to our primary Preferred Provider Network, the First Health Network, which is owned by Coventry Workers' Comp Services - an enhancement that will mean additional potential medical cost savings for clients of both The PMA Insurance Group and PMA Management Corp. (PMAMC), our third-party administrator.

The Details

On November 11, 2007, Coventry Health Care entered into a strategic alliance with Aetna, one of the nation's leading diversified health care benefits companies. As a result, Coventry now has exclusive access to the Aetna Workers' Compensation PPO Network in particular jurisdictions.

The Aetna alliance presents us with exciting opportunities to provide you the potential to realize greater medical cost savings via an expanded network with more competitive discounts currently available to PMA clients in: Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

You will also have access to PMA's traditional PPO network offering of First Health if Aetna does not have an existing contract with a provider but First Health does. In total, the Aetna alliance will potentially prove beneficial for all of our clients, as we expect fewer dollars to be paid for medical expenses, thus positively impacting total workers' compensation costs. Clients who receive a monthly AMPS bill should see a decrease in overall medical paid in their monthly bill.

Coventry is currently in discussions with Aetna to explore the possibility of offering the Aetna Workers' Compensation PPO network in other states. Should additional states be added, we will notify you.

We look forward to this opportunity to potentially further reduce your medical expenses and total workers' compensation costs, and are confident that this expansion is a very positive step forward for all of us. If you have any questions, please contact your PMA representative or local branch vice president.
