New Medical eBilling System Brings Behind-the-Scenes Benefits


As part of PMA's commitment to you, we constantly search for ways to enhance our products, services and programs to save your organization time and money on its commercial insurance. In one of our latest initiatives, we've contracted an eBilling service provider to create even further efficiencies in our medical bill-paying process.

While this is a transparent process improvement, there are many behind-the-scenes benefits for you. For example, the new service lets medical providers submit workers' compensation medical bills to PMA electronically and enables the real-time exchange of vital financial and clinical data, including the submission of bills and electronic attachments from a variety of document systems. It's about efficiency. The faster we receive medical bills, the faster we can process and pay them.

On average, PMA handles nearly 77 percent of its medical bills in 15 days or less from the time of receipt to check/Explanation of Review issuance. Efficient medical bill handling not only reduces the need for providers to resubmit bills for payment, but also enables our staff to spend more time on value-added client services such as intensive bill review. Ultimately, we believe that our responsiveness and prompt payment make providers more receptive to treating injured workers who are covered by PMA. And our eBilling service is adding efficiency and cost- savings to an already strong process.
