Ciofani is a seasoned executive with 21 years of experience in
the property & casualty insurance industry distinguished by a
record of achievement in business growth and bottom-line
improvement.
His career with The PMA Insurance Group commenced in 2000,
when he assumed the position of Vice President, Commercial
Markets and Group/Program Underwriting. As the leader of a
significant sector of PMA’s underwriting operation, Mr.
Ciofani was responsible for overseeing the attainment of
underwriting profitability and growth objectives for accounts
up to $750,000 in premium, as well as the PMA Group Program
sector. Under his leadership, PMA Commercial Markets realized
significant improvement in the segment’s bottom line and
achieved a significant growth rate in five years. In addition,
under Mr. Ciofani’s leadership, a talented field and home
office underwriting staff has been enhanced.
Prior to joining PMA, Mr. Ciofani spent six years with Wausau
Insurance in positions of increasing responsibility. From 1998
to 2000, he was Vice President of Standard Accounts for the
Mid-Atlantic Division, responsible for the profit and loss of
Wausau’s mid-market segment from New York City to Virginia.
During his tenure, the division solidified its marketplace
presence while improving the bottom line. Prior to that, he
was Wausau’s Director of Commercial Accounts in which he
served as a territory manager in the New York City, Southern
Connecticut and New Jersey regions. Under his direction, the
team successfully grew the book of business and reduced the
territory’s combined ratio. At Wausau, he also served as
Divisional Director, Controller and Financial Services.
Mr. Ciofani started his insurance career with Nationwide
Insurance in 1985, where he worked in underwriting and
financial positions.
A graduate of Bentley College, Waltham Massachusetts, Mr.
Ciofani earned an MBA with a concentration in finance from the
University of Connecticut. He has a Chartered Property
Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) designation as well as an
Associate in Premium Auditing (APA) designation. |
